Cozy oatmeal recipe with cacao, nuts, coconut and all the cinnamon smells
This warm and cozy oatmeal recipe is my autumn favorite. Its texture, ingredients and smell warms my soul even in the coldest and rainy autumn mornings. This warm meal is the perfect choice if you practice intermittent fasting, or to refuel after a strong morning Yoga practice or workout.
Moreover I have to be honest that I love this recipe so much that sometimes I eat it for dinner.
Warming and Cozy Oatmeal recipe
RECIPE
- 1 cup of oats
- 1/2 Tbsp Maca powder
- 1/2 banana
- 3 dates
- 1 Tbsp raw cacao powder
- cinnamon (as much as you wish)
- 1 Tbsp Coconut oil
- 1 heaping spoon of Plant based yogurt ( you can use regular if you are not vegan)
- a handful of nuts (I usually mix almonds, cashew nuts and walnuts)
- shredded coconut or flakes to top up
METHOD
Firstly start by cooking the oats on medium temperature with water or your choice of milk. I love to cook them only with water or mixture of one half oat milk and one half water. While the oats are cooking, cut your banana and the dates. Secondly add the dates, banana, the cacao and maca powder and the coconut oil. Bring it to boil and simmer for 5 minutes or until you reach the desired creaminess texture. Most importantly don’t forget to stir them as the oats may get stuck on the bottom of the pot.
Thirdly place the creamy warm oatmeal in a bowl and top up with the rest of the ingredients. Normally I put the spoon of yogurt in the middle of my bowl and then sprinkle around with the coconut flakes and the nuts. Lastly you can roughly cut the nuts as it makes them easier to chew and they blend better once you mix everything. To finish up, sprinkle the cinnamon and dig in.
